Four 2024 Fashion Winter Trends I Can Get Behind

By Ruby Mohanarajah

These are the fashion colours, trends and staples that I can’t stop talking about this winter season.

Red as a Pop of Colour

Red has always been a powerful colour in fashion, symbolising passion, strength, and confidence. Recently, my Instagram and TikTok have been flooded with fit checks complimented by an oversized red sweater, red platform heels, or even a simple red lip. I find myself scrolling through Nine West heels and Forever New sweaters and dresses, aiming to elevate my red wardrobe to the next level.

As a Sri Lankan Hindu, the colour red has always been prevalent in my closet – known for representing prosperity, good luck, and love. In Hindu wedding ceremonies, the colour red is worn as the second wedding saree, serving as a transition into married life.

Therefore, red is not new to me at all, and I am obsessed with all the love the colour is receiving at the moment.

Ballet Shoes

Inspired by the graceful elegance of ballet dancers, ballet shoes have transcended the dance studio to become an elegant fashion staple.

Not only are these shoes gorgeous onto the eyes, but also perfect for a full day of work at AMPR due to their sublime comfort.

Ballet flats and shoes add that touch of femininity to any outfit, whether they’re paired with jeans for a casual spin out or worn with an A-line dress for an AMPR event, ballet shoes can accentuate any outfit with style.

What I adore most about ballet shoes is their timeless appeal; they offer a refreshing alternative to heels without sacrificing sophistication.

The Charm of Chocolate Brown

Chocolate brown has emerged as a standout shade in recent fashion seasons, offering a rich, chic aura compared to your every day  traditional neutrals.

This warm yet earthy tone brings a sense of elegance, making it a favourite among those who wish to add flair and cosiness to their work outfits. I have recently been obsessing over the Nude Lucy Riko Cupro Raisin Pant as well as their Leo Cupro skirt for a more established corporate look.

The Rise of Double Denim Sets

If there is one thing AMPR loves, it’s a denim co-ord set, as seen below – I’d call it the AMPR winter uniform! A particular favourite of mine is the Nude Lucy Organic Denim Overshirt and Jean denim set on offer – the current staple comfy yet chic winter look in the office.

I am ecstatic that this trend has been revived as it offers a fresh take on casual yet elegant dressing – not to mention they look incredibly cool, just look at the AMPR girls! The beauty of denim on denim is that it looks effortless in all shades.

P.S. If you are looking to achieve that look, I would look no further than Nude Lucy’s Women’s Denim collection.
