As an agency that hosts many events (big or small) for our clients, we thought it would be worth sharing our insights on some of the most iconic and impressive private dining locations in Melbourne.
Every event is different and, when selecting the perfect venue, you need to ensure the space fits the brief and reflects the clients’ objectives and aesthetic.
Below are our top five private venues that we love and trust:
If your brief is an intimate experience, look no further than the Carlton Wine Room’s Cellar! Downstairs and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Faraday Street, you’ll be greeted with bluestone walls, rustic wooden beams and tables that can seat up to 24 guests. The working cellar can be complimented by sommelier service to provide a unique, personal and special touch for your event.
If you’re not travelling to Europe anytime soon but still want to feel like you’re there, look no further than Di Stasio Carlton’s beautiful Italian courtyard – Il Cortile. Tucked away in the heart of Carlton, down a narrow gravel path lined with intimate tables for two, you are welcomed with a 17th-century Italian stone fountain, plants, an outdoor bar and aromas of freshly woodfired pizza – it truly is like being transported to Italy. With capacity for 50 guests seated, Il Cortile boasts the perfect backdrop for your next European summer client event.
Sophisticated and timeless, Hazel is located on Flinders Lane in the historic Richard Allen building. Downstairs, the Hazel Atrium offers a picturesque, aesthetically pleasing experience with moody lighting and concrete walls. The intimate space offers up to 55 guests seated and 90 standing. Going above and beyond for your next event, the Hazel Atrium offers the projection of images on the walls for a fully immersive brand experience!
Located on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, you’ll meet the contemporary Poodle Bar & Bistro! Walking through the ground floor with carefully placed art-adorned walls, the intimate Private Dining Room is the perfect retreat for a small event away from the buzzing main bar. Featuring a customisable boardroom style table that can seat up to 20 guests, deep green walls mixed with wooden ceiling, your guests will leave wanting more!
In the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, overlooking the Gothic Revival-style St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Parliament House is Siglo Bar’s Rooftop Terrace. Seating 80 and 150 for cocktail, guests are whisked away for an evening of European delight with Parisian-style chairs lining long dining tables and a menu passionate about shared plates and celebration. The Rooftop can hold private dining events for lunches during the week and dinners Sunday-Monday.
